KCC appointed as top Teaching School
Kingsbridge Community College, part of Education South West Multi-Academy Trust, has been appointed as one of only 87 Teaching School Hubs to lead a nationwide initiative. Kingsbridge has responsibility for leading the 317 schools across South Devon, Plymouth and Torbay. They will work in partnership with Colyton Grammar School who will lead across North and East Devon.
The Teaching School Hubs have responsibilities for leading the development of teacher training and development, from initial teacher training up to the Executive Leadership of Multi Academy Trusts. This puts Education South West and Kingsbridge Community College at the heart of the key government drive to improve teacher recruitment and training to give us the best education system in the world.
CEO of Education South West Matthew Shanks said “At Education South West we are passionate about collaborating in order to make education outstanding for all children. Not only will this ensure that our teaching is at the benchmark of the best nationally but also it will enable us to lead, as part of a joined-up system, in building the best possible education system for all children in all schools. Ultimately, it is the young people we serve who will reap the benefit.”
Principal Tina Graham said “We will always look to make the most of every opportunity we have to make things better for children. This is just the latest example of Kingsbridge Community College stepping up to lead and support other schools. We were one of the first Teaching Schools in 2010, the first to be licensed to run Headship training in 2012, the first of the national Research Schools in 2016, one of only 6 national pilot Hub schools last year, and now confirmed along with the new national groups. We look forward to playing a major role in the continued development of education.”
